Zipfizz is basically an energy drink! It's that simple. It is a powder that comes in small tubes that gets mixed with 18-20oz of water. Here's what it looked like as I opened my package:
They gave me this water bottle with 6 tubes of the powder |
They claim to not only be an ordinary energy drink but a HEALTHY energy drink as well. Here is a comparison chart on Zipfizz vs. some other drinks.
As you can see, it doesn't have many calories, is full of antioxidants/vitamins and has natural caffeine. Oh yeah, and the 41,667% of B12 energy seems to dominate the others. So, since I had nothing to lose, I mixed up my first batch...Pink Lemonade!
The first thing I noticed was the "Fizz" that popped the top off the water bottle as I shook it up. It was almost like it was carbonated. I took a sip, and it wasn't too bad! I was surprised and impressed. I decided to try one of the flavors each day to be able to report on each flavor. Here are the outcomes as follows:
Pink Lemonade: Not too bad, but I could REALLY taste the protein!!! 6 out of 10
Grape: Tasted REALLY good!!! 10 out of 10
Berry: Pretty good! 8 out of 10
Citrus: This was just alright. 7 out of 10
Orange Soda: This one actually tasted and "felt" like orange soda. 9 out of 10
Creamsicle (Limited Edition): This was the best. The flavor was excellent! 10 out of 10
They never left much of an aftertaste and never felt heavy in my stomach. I did not really use them while I was training, so I can't really give an idea of performance, although I did seem to feel a bit energized while drinking them.
Conclusion: After testing out Zipfizz, I feel like they have a decent product to buy. It was easy to mix, they tasted pretty good, and I had no side effects. That being said, I feel like my "go-to" sports drink will still be Powerade. I recommend trying Zipfizz or just checking them out on their website at www.zipfizz.com.
Disclaimer: I was not paid to review Zipfizz or give it a good review. This was just the report from testing out this new "healthy" energy drink.

I think I would like grape best, too! Thanks for the product review, always good to get an inside on a product before you buy it! :)
Maybe a beard comb company will want to advertise here next??? ;)
I don't understand the appeal of low calorie sports drinks. If I am training/racing, I NEED calories. It sounds like a good way to stay hydrated throughout the day though instead of drinking sugary drinks like pop.
Grape and Creamsicle sound amazing!
Great review...That is pretty cool that they asked you to try/review their product. (pretty cool water bottle) I am a little scared to try something like that b/c I have had NUUN before and it was HORRIBLE!
The next thing I am going to try is Infinit Nutrition Ride Formula....apparently if you drink this stuff it gives you enough energy and calories you do not have to eat on your long rides and runs. A couple of reviews I read even said that they now do not have anything to eat during the entire Ironman distance races because this keeps you full.
Grape! I have tasted the grape... it's pretty good.
the grape nuun tastes like crap! this stuff sounds interesting might have to give it a shot
I see that it contains sucralose...that's enough for me to take a pass. Hammer Nutrition and Millennium Sports both make good electrolyte supplements that contain no artificial sweeteners.
Yay for product sampling. I have them too and will totally be honest in saying that I haven't tried them. Ooops. I'm a horrible blogger.
