Super Sunday

Sunday, October 16, 2011  at 7:20 PM
Today was the running of the first 7 Bridges Marathon/Half Marathon in Chattanooga, TN.  Jennifer and I have terrific memories of Chatt-town since that's were we both went to college.  We wanted to be down there to run one of the races, but that'll have to wait till next year when we're down that direction!  But, although we weren't able to be there, by super studly brother-in-law ran his first Half Marathon.  He did it in 2:01!  That's pretty awesome for his first.  Way to go, Trevor!  Here are a couple pics...

The dude looks TIRED!  Nice work, Trev!

Training for Atlanta
Jennifer and I didn't run 13.1 today, but we DID run our long run of 8 miles in training for the Atlanta Half Marathon.  I can finally say that I felt good on a run.  Recently, they haven't been great at all.  Today, I just wanted to keep going!  Jennifer ran it at 9:56's, and I ran it averaging 8:02's.  My "sand-bagger" goal is to beat 2 hours, but my actual goal is to go 1:50.  To do that, I'd have to average 8:24's.  Think I'll make it?  This race that happens on Thanksgiving Day is hopefully going to be sweet revenge on the Holy Half that happened earlier this year.

Now here's my problem.  I'm having a super hard time with my right hamstring.  During last week's long run, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in the ole hammy.  I stretched before and after the run, so I don't know what happened.  Today, after a good stretching prior to the run, it started to get tight within the first 2 miles.  I'm having a hard time stretching it out!  I do the whole "lay down and touch your toes" routine.  I've tried the "standing-touch-your-toes, or the "standing-cross-your-legs-and-touch-your-toes," but none seem to work that well.  What do you suggest for my stretching?

New Comment Format
So I'm trying something new on this blog.  I hate that blogger doesn't really do a great job making it easy for me to reply to your comments.  I know Wordpress seems to have a great platform.  I found this new comment box, so we'll see how it work.  Let me know if it sucks, and I'll get rid of it.

Congratulations to everyone that raced this weekend.  I can't wait to read some of the reports.  Have a great week, and thanks for reading!
